Basement Remodeling and Painting.

February 18, 2014 0 Comments

Basement remodeling is a great way to turn empty unfinished space in your home into a new enjoyable area.

The possibilities are endless. You could build a theater room, family room, kid’s play room, a bar, mancave, or anything else you can dream up! The best part is all the work takes place out of the way in the unforeseen area that is the foundation of your home.

Painting a basement isn’t like painting your living room.

There’s a new set of rules that apply. You need to seal your block walls with a water blocking finish and plastic sheeting, or liquid applied water and vapor shield. We were hired to spray Sherwin Williams Water Blocking Primer Finish (I know quite a name, has a certain ring to it… haha).

Basement Drylock

Our Titan Impact airless paint sprayer made quick work of this job. This coating is very similar to Drylok. It is very thick and fills in the pores of the cinder block wall to prevent moisture from seeping in. This will help to prevent moisture build up behind the walls that could cause a serious mold or mildew problem.

We used zip wall poles to create a barrier around areas like the stairwell to protect them from over spray.

Once the walls had adequate time to dry the contractor came back and installed all of the framework and plastic sheeting. After all of the electric, plumbing, and drywall is complete we’ll go back to prime and finish all of the new rooms with Sherwin Williams Drywall Primer and Duration Home matte finish paint.
