Painting a New House to Make it Your Home

What’s the first thing you notice about a new car?

The paint! It’s the most exciting, attention grabbing aspect of a vehicle. Your new house is no different. You don’t buy a new car painted with primer and show it off, so why would you do so with your home. Painting a new house can be a very rewarding action. When a guest walks in the first thing they notice is the color of your walls. They convey your personality and taste to the people you invite to enter into your living space. “Oh I just love the colors you’ve chosen, they’re so warm and inviting!” That’s a fantastic comment to receive as a new home owner. Imagine if they walked into your house with plain old builder’s flat white walls. Your guests wouldn’t be very excited at all.

Buying a new home is a very glorious achievement.

You take pride in what you’ve purchased. A professional paint job conveys that well. Painting a new home shortly after you’ve moved in makes a lot of sense. With a new home you often receive a warranty for repairs. This guarantees you won’t have to worry about any home repairs in the near future, which makes spending a little extra money on a top notch paint job a safe financial move. Within that new home warranty there will most likely be a clause that states that stress cracks in the walls caused by the settling of your new home will be repaired for free after one year. This is a great deal, however sometimes the builder will refuse to paint the walls if they are not the original builder’s flat color. They make it out to be a big deal, because for them it is. They’re providing you with a free service and don’t want to waste time trying to figure out what color goes where.

We specialize in painting new homes, even more so in painting before you move in. Hiring us makes for a win win situation for all parties. Have your builder repair everything that falls under your warranty, when it comes time to paint they will have our color form to refer too if they’d like to paint themselves. If not give us a call and we’ll be more than happy to come touch things up free of charge. this is also an opportune time to change the color of a room you’re not so in love with anymore, for and additional cost.

We also offer color consultation services to help convey your personality onto the walls of your home.

Painting a new home is also about protecting it.

Builder’s flat is an extremely cheap product. It’s great for the builder because it’s low cost and hides any minor imperfections in the walls, also it’s very easy to touch up when accidental scuffs, dents, and dings happen during construction. This makes sense since the builder will only own the home for a short period of time, they need the bare minimum. As a long term home owner you want paint that will seal up your walls and last a lifetime. In my opinion the best option for that need is to use Sherwin Williams’ Duration line of finish paints. They are easy clean and maintain, and come with a lifetime warranty. The best part is it’s still very affordable ringing in around $45.00 a gallon. I have also found Duration paints to cover builders flat better than other paint lines, so instead of using 2 gallons to paint a bedroom you often have enough with one depending on the size of the room.

Should I paint my new home is one of my most frequently asked questions. It’s an easy answer. Overall painting a new house is a great idea in my opinion, it brings a sense of pride in ownership, showcases your personality, and most of all makes your new house your home!
